‘At the beach, life is different, time doesn’t move from hour to hour, but mood to moment. We live by currents , plan by the tides, and follow the sun.’ – unknown
One of the greatest things about being an au pair is free travel with your host family. It’s not something they have to do but in some cases (like mine) the host family is generous enough to take you on their family vacation – my host mom says it’s because the au pair is family (that always makes my heart melt)
I had the opportunity to travel to Hawaii’s Big Island. It was one of the most beautiful places I had ever been to, the view of the sunrise and sunset from my bedroom balcony was amazing. It was crazy hot but it was all worth it.
I had the opportunity to swim with dolphins, terrifying at first because they are extremely unpredictable but being that close to one was beyond amazing. We got to fly over an active volcano on a helicopter, 5 mins in and I was sick, maybe because I’m terrified of heights or because of all the twists and turns that pilot was putting us through.
Hawaii was great, staring into the sunset and the smell of the sea, the laughter of families made me realized how truly blessed I am.
Oh how beautiful it is to witness beauty from someone else’s point of view.
